Your Wedding or Marriage or Civil Partnership Blessing at RPUC
Our Church Building
Our gracious building with its vaulted ceiling, Burne-Jones stained glass windows, and rich dark wood is a perfect place for a wedding.
We can accommodate as many as 150 guests, and our space is also suitable for smaller gatherings.
Come to a Sunday service or arrange a time to view the church with our minister.
Weddings: a Legal Dimension and the Recognition and Celebration of a Commitment
Weddings have at least two dimensions to them.
They are legal ceremonies that bind a man and a woman together. We are fully licensed and registered to perform legal weddings, and are happy to provide that service.
More importantly, though, weddings are gatherings of friends and family to recognise and celebrate the formal commitment between two people.
While there are elements that are similar in each service – couples make promises and pledges to each other, and exchange rings as tokens of those promises, for example – each couple who comes to be married bring their own particular story, and so each wedding is unique.
A Service Reflecting Your Feelings and Values
Our minister works with each couple to design a service that is special to them. Including readings, poetry and music selected for the service, the wedding will reflect the feelings and values that the couple wish to express.
In addition to the required vows, couples may include other spoken promises, rituals to express their commitment (such as candle lighting), and symbols that express their love (such as the gift of a rose during the service).
Our minister ensures that the service flows smoothly and that all the legal requirements are met.
Marriage and Civil Partnership Blessings
For those couples who choose to be married in a civil service, or for those who do not have the option of a church wedding, we also provide personalised marriage or civil partnership blessings.
As with our weddings, these are planned in consultation with our minister to express the feelings and values of the couple.
